Francesc Fàbregas

Francesc Fàbregas (Sant Just Desvern, 1950) began his career as a photographer in the 1970s, working at the heart of the music scene as official photographer of the magazine Vibraciones and later as editor and photographer of Rock Espezial and Rock de Lux. From the early eighties until 2010 his career was linked to Televisió de Catalunya, where he created and directed the music programme Sputnik, awarded the Premi Ciutat de Barcelona in 1991.

The collection En directe unfolds like a visual score, somewhere between chronicle and graphic testimony of an entire era: a series of portraits placed on the stave of time, composing a melody that evokes the history of music and its protagonists.

In these shots Fàbregas strips the performer of the paraphernalia of the concert and seeks the essential: the body, the soul, the expression, the gaze — and above all, the voice.
